Join us for our 30th Anniversary of Family Weekend!

Parent & Family Programs collaborates with numerous campus partners and local vendors every fall to welcome our families back to campus for a special weekend. Activities include an Institute Update by President Peterson, stimulating presentations by faculty and staff, College and School receptions, Family Fun Night, Arts@Tech event, Family Weekend Tailgate, Georgia Tech vs. Bowling Green State University Football game, student performances, 30th Anniversary Celebration at Zoo Atlanta, a Jazz Brunch with Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students John Stein, and more!

Family Weekend at Georgia Tech is the perfect time to visit your student, learn more about campus life, and create special memories!

In order to make the Family Weekend registration process easier, we ask that you read through the information on this page, as well as the other Family Weekend links to the right.

The Family Weekend 2018 schedule allows families to create their own schedule from the list of events and activities.  There is an overall Family Weekend Registration Fee, and some events throughout the weekend also have a small fee. Your family can pick and choose which events, sessions, and activities they would like to attend based on availability, interests, and your budget.

Family Weekend 2018 Pricing for Ticketed Events

Family Weekend Registration Fee
$80 per family (up to four people, including your GT Student). Children 5 and under are free with registered guests. *GT Student Registration is required for participation. Each additional guest is just $10 per person.

Friday, September 28
College and School Receptions
On Friday, September 28 from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M., you are invited to a special reception hosted by the various academic units throughout campus. Enjoy getting to know faculty and other school administrators in your student’s College or School and learn more about area of study at Georgia Tech. Registration is required, but this event is free.

Arts@Tech Presents - Bandaloop Aerial Performance
Exclusive for Family Weekend! The Georgia Tech Office of the Arts presents a performance by internationally acclaimed vertical dance company BANDALOOP,  which will be performed on the outside wall of the historic Biltmore Hotel. BANDALOOP celebrates the human spirit through dance that uses climbing technology to expand and challenge what it possible. Founded by Amelia Rudolph, BANDALOOP re-imagines dance, activates public spaces, and inspires wonder and imagination in audiences around the world. The company has performed for millions of people in over 22 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia, and on screen in film and digital media. The Biltmore is located at 817 West Peachtree Street in Midtown Atlanta, within walking distance of the Georgia Tech Hotel and the campus bookstore. Tickets are free but are limited and must be reserved in advance.

Family Weekend Tailgate
Tech Tower Lawn (in front of Tech Tower)
It’s TAILGATE time! Join other Georgia Tech families on Saturday prior to the game for food, music, family photos with the Wreck, face-painting, and classic tailgate games. Menu includes hamburgers, black bean burgers, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, potato chips, cole slaw, apples, peach cobbler, cookies, soda, lemonade, and water. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for Buzz – he may be buzzing by on his way to the game!

Adult (Ages 14 and up) $25.00

Special note for Stamps President's Scholars and Gold ScholarsThe Office of Special Scholarships will be hosting a tailgate during GT Family Weekend. Families can visit with other Stamps President’s Scholars and Gold Scholars and their families while enjoying a buffet-style meal followed by block seating at the GT vs. Bowling Green State University game. The exact menu will be provided later and will include options for those with dietary restrictions. More information about registration will come from the Office of Special Scholarships this fall. Therefore, do not add this Family Weekend tailgate or football tickets when registering for Family Weekend. Stamps President’s Scholars and Gold Scholars tailgate and game block will be part of a separate registration.

Therefore, do not add these football tickets when registering for Family Weekend. Stamps President’s Scholars and Gold Scholars tailgate and game block will be part of a separate registration.

30th Anniversary Celebration/Evening at Zoo Atlanta
Join us for a special evening at Zoo Atlanta from 4:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 29 to celebrate our 30th Anniversary of Family Weekend at Georgia Tech. Explore the Zoo with your family, see the lions, tigers and bears (oh my!),  and create special memories with your Yellow Jacket. Zoo Atlanta will close to the public at 6:30 P.M. and only Family Weekend families with event tickets will be permitted to stay and view certain exhibits. At the Grand Patio, enjoy music, while watching the stilt walkers and animal encounters up close! Free family photos will be available. Dinner will also be available for purchase.  Transportation will be provided, but parking at the Zoo is also permitted.

Jazz Brunch with Dean Stein
Wrap-Up Family Weekend with the Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students, John Stein and a jazz performance by Georgia Tech students.  Enjoy a delicious brunch buffet at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, mingle with other Georgia Tech families and wrap up the weekend with your Georgia Tech student before buzzing home. Brunch will begin at 10:00 A.M. and a short program will follow.

Parent & Family Programs strives to provide a special experience for our students and family members participating in our programs. To ensure the quality of programming offered during Family Weekend, we DO NOT offer any refunds. We encourage you to make sure your family members can attend Family Weekend and double check the items in your cart before registering.
